Around The House....It's Almost Time For Spring Cleaning

Image
So this amazing weather not only makes me want to shop it also gets me in the mood to do some spring cleaning around the house.  For the better part of the weekend I was laid out as I lifted a bag of potting soil from the ground up to my cart at Home Depot and when I did I heard a pop....never good! The doc says I've pulled muscles etc and should take it easy.  Yea right doc!  I mean I agree with the doc but how the heck am I suppose to lay around on a heating pad for a week.?!  I did follow the doc's orders over the weekend well for the most part.  I did get up from time to time to do some things around the house and get us ready for my big spring cleaning which involves washing everything including dog beds, bed skirts, Mae's collar etc.  It also involves flipping mattresses and airing out pillows etc.  In preparation for the big clean I did some small things around the house this weekend to get us ready! 1.  Do-It-Yourself Home Deodoriz...

Fabulous Finds: Lesley Evers

Image
So my fellow fashionistas all this warm weather has me stocking up for my spring and summer wardrobe.  I have found some really cute items at my TJMAXX including a great one piece, strapless DKNY bathing suit and a great Tahari dress.  I also found some cute sundresses at Target the other day.  As I was doing my shopping online for spring and summer I stumbled upon Lesley Evers!  OMG stop the presses she is absolutely amazing.  She describes herself as modern nostalgia in the all day dress and I have to agree! She makes the cutest dresses, skirts and tops in fabulous fabrics including silk.  I am loving all the beautiful, fun options for spring and summer and you will too!

Sunday Funday

Image
I love a good Sunday Funday!  For those of you who aren't sure what Sunday Funday is it normally involves cocktails and good food.  I think Sunday Funday came about because of the Sunday blues.  I don't care who you are I think everyone gets a little sad on Sunday afternoon.  The weekend is over and it's time to gear up for the week.  You are thinking about everything that you need to do and don't want to do and it normally makes me want to lay down and take a big nap.  When I was single Sunday Funday was normally at the Treehouse and it involved lots of mimosas and fun appetizers and made the day so much more bearable.  Even though I'm older and married I still believe a good Sunday Funday can cure what ails you.  My Sunday Funday's look a lit bit different now.  Sometimes they include going to church and wearing something super cute! Other times it includes going to starbucks and getting a tall coffee and wandering around the book...

Shop Til You Drop at Shopbop

Image
As all of my readers know by now I love to shop!  What I love even more is finding a one stop shop or website where you can find a number of fabulous things at one time.  For me that wonderful website is shopbop!  To me it is my second favorite site for getting everything you need at once (amazon is my first).  I love Shopbop for a number of reasons but I really love all the lines they carry and the bop basics they have introduced as well.  Here are some of my favorite Shopbop finds to date! 1.  Splendid Tee Maxi Dress I adore a dress that looks like separates but isn't.  So imagine how excited I was when I found this amazing splendid maxi dress that looks like a t-shirt and a long skirt!  It comes in multiple colors but I loved the pink! 2.  Alexis Bittar Jewels I love, love Alexis Bittar and his amazing line of unique jewelry.  My favorite is this ring and I can't wait to have it on my little finger! 3.  Shopbop ...

Fabulous Finds: Rebecca & Drew

Image
If you are like me I am constantly on the hunt for functional and well cut clothing.  I love finding great quality pieces that will last a lifetime.  I also like finding great work clothes that don't break the budget that I will wear when I'm not working. I was beyond excited when I found Rebecca & Drew!  They are an amazing clothing line that knows how to fit women.  They do things a bit differently and you order your clothing based on your bra size...GENUIS!  No more pulling or gapping in button downs and dresses.  They also let you pick where exactly you want your buttons depending on how modest you would like to be (I picked very modest)! I love that they finally have realized that most women are not one size fits all and have cut their clothes accordingly.  You have to check them out and let me know what you think!  They are a new line so be patient with them because they will soon be your favorite.

Working Girl Rules: Have Vision/Seize Opportunity

Image
For the third installment of working girl rules I decided to talk about taking initiative or seizing a moment.  While this might be kind of hard to grasp stay with me :)  One thing I love about being a woman is the fact that we have a strong gut sense or what is better known as woman's intuition.  Let me tell you a little story about seizing opportunity and following your gut.  About 8 years ago I was working at the Capitol but looking for another job.  Someone told me that my current employer was hiring.  I got so excited!  The only thing was I didn't know the two individuals who were hiring for the job.  Frankly I had only been at the Capitol a handful of months so I didn't know a ton of people. I had a moment were I froze and thought about just letting it go or letting someone else put my name in the hat.  I got over that fear quickly, desperation and frankly naive youth pushed me to approach these two individuals about the job.  ...

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Nordstrom...

Image
So I ordered a big silver watch for spring and when it came in the mail I didn't like the band. So I took my happy self to Nordstrom and returned it. The only problem is I happened to swing by the Tory Burch store or as the hubs jokingly calls it mecca. When I got to the Tory Burch store Anthony my sales guy throws his arms around me like we are long lost relatives. This is alarming to the hubs for a myriad of reasons so normally I try not to bring him. Anthony is the jam! Not to go off on a tangent but did anyone else in the ATL notice how rude the sales people use to be at TB?!  Anywho I'm glad that's over and they rectified the situation. Back to Anthony he calls me when there's sales and he also leaves me the hell alone so I can shop. He knows better than to try and get me to buy a teeny, tiny purse for $225 it aint happening. He also loves me bc I spend $ and I'm patient when he has to run down the hall to the stock room to get me a different size. Is it ...
