Working Girl Rules: D.T.C.

Image
I have something to admit....I'm a bit like a mobster.  I know this might seem like a shocking statement but stay with me for a minute.  I have to start out by telling you I've always been fascinated with the mob for years and to that end have watched Goodfellas, The GodFather Trilogy, Scarface, The Untouchables, and Donnie Brasco too many times to count.  I live for AMC's Mob Week and never miss an episode of Mob Wives. I think a lot of people are drawn to the mob and fascinated by it for various reasons.  For me I have always found the loyalty aspect of the mob to be the most interesting part of them.  While they may do other things that aren't very ethical they never lack for loyalty. I got to thinking about all of this because the other day I told someone "That person is D.T.C."  and their response was "What the hell does that mean?"  and my response was "Dead to Caroline!"  The person then commented that I was just like th

My Pants Are Too Tight and Other Things That are Driving Me Crazy...

Image
So I'm putting it out there to the universe that my pants, shorts and skirts are too tight!  It is a combination of things the first being that during the legislative session my diet rivals that of a 50 year old man and consists of red meat, red wine and butter.   The other factor is that my doc put me on some medicine and I have been on it for 6 months and just last week the pharmacist mentioned to me that "you know this will more than likely cause extreme weight gain?"  I was on the phone listening to a conference call and immediately hung up and said "EXCUSE ME?!"  I obviously scared the bejesus out of her and she tried to back pedal but the damage was done.   I called my doctor and acted like a complete and total hyena.  She of course told me that not everyone gained weight but that if I seemed to notice weight gain then I should stop the meds. Gee thanks lady!!!!!  Of course it's not that easy and I am slowly taking myself off the meds and  prayin

What's On My Nighstand

How are the book worms?  I have been a reading fool and spent the better part of the afternoon/evening yesterday at Barnes and Noble.  I bought a small coffee and roamed the aisles for hours.  It was amazing me time and I found some incredible books! Enoy! 1. My Cross To Bear by Gregg Allman So after reading Carly Simon's biography I decided to pick up Gregg Allman's autobiography and I must admit it was amazing.  I feel like everyone wants to focus on the tragedy surrounding the Allman Bros but this book talks about how much fun they had and how much they absolutely love, love the music.  Allman's life is absolutely amazing and as a huge music lover I couldn't put this book down. 2.  Grown Up Kind of Pretty by Joshilyn Jackson Is such a great book.  It is the story of three generations of women and is a great quirky, Southern mystery.  I love the way this author puts a story together and weaves these women together.  This is a great beach/lake read!!

Old School Calendar

Soo I have a case of the Mondays and by the way it's Tuesday....booo!  I had a super fun weekend at Steeplechase and honestly wish Steeplechase happened about once every month because it was such a good time.  :) When the hubs and I returned on Sunday from Cville we started talking about all the upcoming events/weddings/trips/business trips etc. we had coming up in the next 5 months and it felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest!  I know I have all these things coming up but to be honest they are sneaking up on me.  For example I will be in St. Simons for a work conference next week and I completely forgot.  I leave the day after my birthday (is it just me or do birthdays get let special the older you get?)  So I have been scrambling all day to make my travel arrangements and in general get my sh!t together. I realized that I'm probably going to have to buy an old school day planner to keep the hubs and I organized over the next six months.  When I mentioned this

Me, A to Z

One of my favorite bloggers, callispondence, did this adorable posting about me, a to z and I decided to snag it from her and do it!  It was so much fun and I loved doing it.  Enjoy! C. chore you hate: LAUNDRY!  Not sure how the hubs and I have so much laundry between the two of us but I literally spend my life doing our laundry.  Which I wouldn't mind so much if my laundry room looked like this, D. dog: Stella Mae Womack otherwise known as the love of my life and the best dog ever!! E. essential start to your day:  a coke zero (the small 7.5 oz) or a small coffee.  F. favorite color:  has traditionally always been purple but I have to tell you that green is quickly becoming my new fav color! G. gold or silver: GOLD!  I probably wear more gold costume jewelry than silver but all my really special s

What's In My Make Up Bag

Image
So over spring break I spent a lot of time cleaning out drawers and closets.  I also tackled my bathroom drawers which have a ton of samples in them.  I don't know why but I never throw beauty samples away when I get them.  Which means I have every perfume sample you could ever want but for some reason I had about 50 juicy perfume samples. In any event I culled through all the samples and actually used some of them (novel concept).  I found some amazing products this way!  The Kate Somerville Hydration product is by far my favorite and am saving up for the full size.   Hope you enjoy what's in my make up bag! 1.  Kate Somerville Quench (Oil-Free) OMG I am totally obsessed with this product!  It feels absolutely amazing when you put it on and does awesome things for your skin.  I can't even describe how refreshing and moisturizing it is.  If this is the only thing you buy for you a year you will be thankful!   2.  Clinique BB Cream I am equally obsessed

Steeplechase

Image
In order to make the week go by faster I am wishing for Friday to hurry up and get here so the hubs and I can head to Cartersville for Steeplechase!  If you don't know what Steeplechase is then here is a lil tutorial for you: The ultimate prize in Georgia Steeplechase racing is awarded each year on the second Saturday of April at a track known as Kingston Downs along the historic Etowah River. It is here that a series of races collectively known as the Atlanta Steeplechase are run. The race began in 1966 as the Atlanta Hunt Meeting and Steeplechase or simply "Chase Day." It was quite an event for the city that was only then coming of age with professional baseball and football teams. More than $7,000 was awarded during the first Atlanta Steeplechase held at Horseshoe Bend. According to tradition the first steeplechase was run in England, probably around 1750. This involved horses running over natural obstacles between two church steeples. The English Grand Nationa

Adult Spring Break

Image
Soo I have been a little slack on blogging and for that I apologize.  Thanks for sticking with me :)  I decided that last week I was going to take the week off (from everything including blogging) and enjoy what I like to call Adult Spring Break.  Spring Break use to conjure visions of bikinis,  beer bongs and boys but not anymore.... My spring break included house cleaning, closet sorting, golf watching, cooking and working out.  My how times have changed.  The week wasn't all work though I did take one day just for me and it was fabulous.  I spent all day in my pj's (well until 3 p.m.) and read books and watched trash TV like The hubs and I also spent two lovely days at the Masters and soaked up the sun (good lord I am pale), the views and enjoyed the amazing pimento cheese sammies.  I am soo happy Bubba won! I really enjoyed my adult spring break and it was much needed after all the hard work I've been doing these past few months.  But today it's ba

Spring Break

Thank you to all my amazing blog lovers out there for giving me the week and then some off :) I needed to take some me time, rest, stay in my pi's until 3 and in general be a lil selfish!   I will be back in action this week with some fun, entertaining posts I promise. I have missed you all and can't wait for the blogging fun to continue.   Happy Easter!   Happy Masters Sunday!
