Before and After

Image
Before I show you my latest home before and after I have to ask how is lent going?!?!   Only having 2 caffeinated beverages a day has definitely been a sacrifice and I picked the right thing to give up for lent.  Also, as I type this I am in sweaty workout clothes (TMI I know) as I just finished running.  So far, so good on lent...keep me posted on how you are doing! So the home improvement continues at casa Womack and I have to say I am excited.  The house is being painted next week.  I got some great help and much needed assistance from our super sweet neighbor and designer extradionare and I can't wait to see it come to life.  Right now the majority of our house is painted in a very light beige/taupe color and I am really excited for some new darker colors and variation. I have been working on our very small entrance way which is basically the size of a rectangle.  Before there were two huge UGA/GA prints on the entryway wall that the hubs got for college graduation.  I real

Lent: Whatcha Giving Up?

Image
There's been a lot of talk about lent this week and what people will give up etc.  A lot of folks went to church on Ash Wednesday to receive the ashes.  I got to thinking about lent and what it really means and did a bit of research.  Here is what I found.  "During Lent, many of the faithful commit to fasting or giving up certain types of luxury as a form of penitence. The Stations of the Cross , a devotional commemoration of Christ's carrying the Cross and of His execution , are often observed. Many Roman Catholic and some Protestant churches bare their altars of candles, flowers, and other devotional offerings, while Crucifixes , religious statues, and other elaborate religious paraphernalia are often veiled in violet fabrics in observance of this event. In certain pious Catholic countries, grand processions and cultural customs are observed, and the faithful attempt to visit seven churches during Holy Week in honor of Jesus Christ heading to Mount Calvary .&quo

Signature Style: It's All About The Bling

So I had the most amazing time this week helping a friend pick out his engagement ring for his fiance.  I was more than flattered to be a part of the process but I really loved looking at all of the beautiful jewels.  I got about 5 texts from the hubs imploring me not to buy anything and I didn't.  But it did get me thinking about all things jewelry and some of my favorite pieces.  1.  Oversize Watch I love, love an oversize watch.  I have a huge rose gold michael kors watch that rarely leaves my wrist but I'm thinking the silver might be a nice touch for spring.  2.  A Great Cuff I love a great, stylish cuff that has some size to it.  When I was browsing around I found this one from David Yurman and it jumped to the top of my must have list! 3.  The Perfect Studs I am forever on the hunt for great stud earrings that are gold and always a bit unique.  I am loving this pair right now! I'm really loving these as well from shoplemode.com 4.  A Fun

Working Girl Rules: Present Yourself With Style

Image
I mentioned one of my favorite tips for success in my post signature style:  work attire and got some questions about it.  There are rules that are taped to my desk and have been for 8 years.  The post-it note looks a little worse for the wear but of no consequence :)  I keep these rules on my desk to center me, remind me of what's important and to focus me on the goal at hand.  It's advice I've collected over the years or things I have learned myself.  The first rule on the list is "present yourself with style".  The thought behind this is that you should dress appropriately for work that doesn't mean boring, by the way!  My rule of thumb is that your outfit should be tasteful, colorful but should never be distracting.  Let me talk about distracting for a minute.  I for one am not interested in seeing your cleavage, your camel toe, or how short you can get your skirt without showing your spanx.  Dressing like this is going to get you attention.....negat

What's On My Nighstand

Hello fellow book lovers and blog reading lovers!  I hope you are well and having a fantastic week.  I've been thinking about what books I wanted to feature this week and decided to go with some of my tried and true favorites.  Happy reading! 1.  Between, Georgia Ok I love this book!  It is such a great read about small town life and the plot line will keep you guessing.  I highly recommend this one! 2.  Glass Castle Is an amazing true story about the author who pretty much grew up homeless with her parents and siblings.  Her nomadic lifestyle and her parents crazy and irresponsible decisions are often times hard to believe.  I couldn't put this book down and have actually re-read it. 3.  Dead End Gene Pool Is an incredible story about the Vanderbilt family at the height of their wealth.  The story is told by a family member and offers incredible insight into how the family handled business, family issues and adversity.  You will be shocked my some of the r

What Happened To The Weekend?

Image
Ok is it just me or does the weekend feel like the fastest 2 days of the week?!  We travel a lot on the weekends or have events/parties etc. if we are in town so it is rare to be in town and have no plans.  Often times we can go months before we have a free weekend to just get stuff done! This weekend was one of those weekends we had free and to say we squeezed all we could into 2 days would be an understatement!  It started with me doing some personal pampering (that's what the hubs calls it) or what I like to call maintenance.  I hit up the nail place and got my gel manicure done.  Before... And After....Soo much better!! I then headed over to Natural Body Spa in Brookhaven to see my fav gal Sally and get a much needed microderm facial and some waxing done.  If you've never had a microderm facial before you need to make an appointment and go at once! On my way back to the house I swung by my TJ Maxx.  I am newly obssesed with the TJ Maxx by our house!  They

Feels Like Home

I had a great impromptu night with some of our neighbors the other night.  We all convened in some one's driveway and had some cocktails and appetizers.  Every one's kids were playing and you can bet my furry four legged baby was there as well :)  It was so laid back and fun.  It got me thinking about changes and getting out of your comfort zone.  Truth be told I am not great at change...in fact I kinda suck at it!  When I moved in with the hubs I had a really hard time for many reasons.  First most of my closest girlfriends had left the ATL to get married, go to school etc.  Secondly, I had lived in my cute, little Sandy Springs condo for 7  years and it was my home completely.  And third I moved a bit out of town to Norcross and I didn't know the first place to go to get my nails done, grocery shop etc.  The hubs found me one day crying on the stairs of our house.   He was perplexed to say the least.  When I could finally explain what was wrong that "this isn&#

Fabulous Finds: The Beauty Edition

Image
Someone please stop me from going into Sephora anymore....I think I'm addicted.  I kid, I kid :) In any event I had a truly awesome visit to Sephora last week.  Truth be told I needed a little pick me up so I wandered around the store to see what I could find.  Below are some of my favorite items beauty items and some of my new discoveries. Enjoy! 1.  DermaDoctor Ok I'm going to put it out there......I SWEAT!!!!!!  I'm not one of those girls who doesn't have to wear deodorant or barely sweats when they workout.  I sweat like a man at the gym and sometimes when I'm not in the gym....geez I can't believe I'm admitting this.  In any event the sweating was becoming a small issue seeing as how I love silk tops.  So I took my happy self to Sephora about 3 years ago and low and behold found DermaDoctor's MED e Tate wipes.  This wipes are amazing!!  You simply use them under your arms and you guessed it no more sweating :) 2.  Naturopathica  I fi
