Can I Wear My Wedding Dress To That?

Image
How are all my fabulous readers today?  Am I the only person doing back flips because it is Friday?!  Yesterday was one of the busiest days of my life and I'm glad the weekend is almost here. I have a question for some of you out there; do you ever get sad that you won't wear your wedding dress again?  I do.  I love my wedding dress as I'm sure every gal does.  It is a cliche but I knew the minute I found my dress, it was the first one I picked up and I knew this was the dress I wanted to marry Matt in.  It was all lace and had a pretty long train.  I just loved how it felt on and how special it made my feel. Lots of people asked me if I planned to change my dress before our reception, because the train of the dress was a bit long, and I said absolutely not!   (This is a pic of my sweet, patient mother getting that long train bustled before the reception.) I wanted to wear my dress as long as I could.  By the end of our reception I was pretty hot and

This is a very special Thursday for lots of reasons.  No matter how you feel about the health care law today is historical.  So in between watching CNN or Fox News please enjoy What's What! 1.  Lot 18 If you know me you know I LOVE wine.  Therefore I absolutely adore the website Lot 18.  It is a great site that gives you access to unique wines.  I love their reviewers and also the history they provide behind each wine.  Sadly some of the wines don't ship to GA but for the most part this Georgia girl gets her fix.  Check them out and if you need an invitation to the site lemme know! 2.  Cape Cod Rosemary and Feta Chips I discovered these last week when I was on vacation at staying at my Nana's.  These are really the best chips you have ever tasted (and I eat a lot of chips).  They are so tasty you can put them out as an appetizer or sit down and eat the whole bag (not that I did that).  3.  Hollywood Heights Hollywood Heights is a fab show that c

Alright my lovely readers I am taking a vacay and unfortunately will be away for the next week!  I am taking some time off from work and blogging and heading to Destin to stay with my Nana.  I plan to rest, eat good seafood, spend time with the people I love, sit in the sun and drink some vino.   I hope you all have a fabulous week while I am away and I will have some lovely entries for you when I return.  xoxoxo

How are my lovely, sassy readers today?!  I am loving summer and relishing in colorful outfits, amazing TV and yummy cocktails.  For this edition of What's What I decided to share with you some of my favorite things.....right now.  Enjoy! xoxoxo 1.  Dallas OMG I am love, love, loving Dallas on TNT are you?!  I am obsessed with the storyline, with the fact that old school Bobby and JR are back and with South Fork in general.  Not everyone loves summer TV but this gal does and I can't wait to see what happens next.  2.  Lionel Richie Tuskegee My BFF gave me the Lionel Richie Tuskegee CDs and I have been listening to them ever since!  I play them in my office all the time and it really helps keep me motivated :)  If you haven't heard this CD you need to download it ASAP. 3.  Make Your Own Havaianas I love Havaianas so imagine my delight when I discovered you could make your own, custom pair!  You simply chose the height of the flop, the base color

For The Love of Pinterest

Image
I have to tell you that I broke up with Pinterest...momentarily!  We are back together and better than ever.  We parted ways because frankly I look at enough unimportant shizz on the internet and it was one more site for me to view.  I forgot during my months long hiatus how freaking amazing it is!!  I jumped back on this week and have been busy pinning :)  I also think I made up with Pinterest because I am tightening the purse strings for the next couple of months.  I think it's a good thing as it is my own doing and not at the insistence or urging of the hubs.  Saving money can be hard for me because I just feel like I'm putting it aside when I could be doing something super fun with it.  That whole saving for a rainy day thing never made much sense to me.  What finally has clicked for me is saving for something specific.  So I am forgoing the new fold able Ray Bans, Lilly's dresses and Louboutin's to put it all in savings.  I have some things I am specificall

It's Cocktail Time....

Image
I'm always up for a yummy cocktail but especially in the summer!  My normal cocktail of choice during these hot months is a mojito but the other day I came across a delicious recipe for a new drink called the blazing sombrero! I was on the elliptical reading women's fitness or some such nonsense and found this cocktail and dreamed about it for the rest of my workout. I love all the ingredients in this drink and how fresh it tastes as well.  I don't always use as much jalapeno as the recipe calls for but either way you can't go wrong.  Hope you enjoy this refreshing drink and your next cocktail time!  xoxoxo Blazing Sombrero Cocktail 1 strawberry 2 basil leaves 1 slice of jalapeno (I only use a half) 1 oz fresh lime juice 3/4 oz agave nectar 2 oz silver tequila Combine first 5 ingredients in a shaker and muddle. Add tequila, shake vigorously for 5 seconds. Strain over ice into a glass.

Working Girl Rules: 80% Of The Time

I have to tell you that sometimes the hubs says really funny stuff.  He isn't one to talk just to talk (which might be why we do so well together) but when he does you better listen up.  When we were having dinner the other night he informed me that "80% of the time you handle things like a dude would so when you act like a girl the rare 20% of the time it throws me off".  I busted out laughing and realized that like most things he says, he was dead on.  What's funny is I haven't always been this way.  Handling things like a dude is something that being in business taught me.  I realized early on that I had to be faster, better and smarter because I was younger than everyone else and they expected me not to do as well.  When you are at a disadvantage in business for whatever reason it is up to you to figure out how to close the gap.  For me I had to be taken seriously and that was hard at 25 years old.  So I brought out my A game meaning I dressed the part,

Thank You, Thank You Very Much

I wanted to take a minute to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for your sweet, thoughtful, moving, heartfelt emails, texts, phone calls, and fb messages in response to my posting on truth and our miscarriage.  Never in a million years did I expect the response from all of you and to say that I am humbled would be putting it mildly.  You shared personal, sacred stories with me that I have forever buried in my heart.  At a time when I felt completely alone you reminded me that I wasn't, that love and sympathy can heal wounds and that we are all human.  You made me realize that this too shall pass.  I don't know why this happens but I plan to ask God about it one day.  I am still working to find my peace about all of this and to figure it out.  I'm not closer to any answers but I pray for them all the time.  I ask God every day to heal me physically and emotionally, I thank him for all of you and pray for peace.  I also pray for sleep.  I haven't slept wel

I am so ready for the weekend!!  Good thing it's almost here.  Here are a few, fun items I plan to partake in this weekend. 1.  Lilly Pulitzer Phipps Plaza I am beyond excited that there is now a Lilly store at Phipps.  They had there grand opening not too long ago but I still haven't made it over there yet.  This weekend I plan to swing by and pick up some adorable dresses and tunics.  Their store is just too cute and I can't wait to check it out! 2.  Road Trip In honor of the hub's 34th birthday we are taking a lil road trip to the Ritz at Lake Oconee.  I cannot wait to sit by the pool and drink mojitos!  I love going to Greensboro. It is so close and such a great little get away.  If you haven't been it is worth a visit.  3.  The Wrecking Bar I went to the wrecking bar for the first time this week to celebrate my cousin's birthday.  It was an amazing experience.  I loved the history behind the bar and their selection of beers is

The Best Advice No One Will Give You Part Deux

How are my lovely readers today?  I hope you are having a fabulous Tuesday and the week breezes by for you.  I got a lot of good responses about The Best Advice No One Will Give You.  I also realized I had left out several important pieces of information.  So here is the much anticipated follow up to the best advice no one will give you....but me :) Enjoy!  xoxo 1.  People Are Going to Judge You and Talk About You Behind Your Back This was something I struggled with for a long time!  I never wanted anyone to think badly of me and I only wanted them to say nice things about me.  The truth is we all judge (and we shouldn't) and we all gossip (and we shouldn't).   You have to accept that from time to time people are go to say and think less than flattering things about you.  It is ok and it is totally part of life.  You can't let what people say or think shake who you are as a person.  You have to be strong, know yourself and accept this universal truth.  The one t

Happy Monday Stinkers!  Could this weather be anymore depressing?  Ugh.  Rain, rain go away!  I hope you all had a lovely weekend.  I had a great, relaxing weekend at home and worked on some much needed projects.  I hope you enjoy my latest project.....what's in my make up bag now! xoxoxo 1.  Sultra The Bombshell 1 inch Ok so really the only hair tool I use on the regular is a hair dryer.  On occasion I will use hot rollers so I wasn't exactly sold on the sultra...at first.  The sultra is an amazing hair tool that heats up quickly and allows you to do several different styles of curls with your hair.  I like you have watched girls on TV with these fantastic curls (Courtney Kerr, The Bachelorette, etc.) and wondered how they heck do they get their hair to look like that?  My curling iron doesn't do that.  The answer is the sultra!  I will warn you that it is expensive but it is worth the $$.  I have baby fine hair and it is able to give me waves, curls like not

The Best Advice No One Will Give You

I interept our normally scheduled programming of what's in my make up bag to bring you the best advice no one will give you.  I was thinking about this concept the other day while driving (yes that was me on GA 400 going 55 and day dreaming about blogging).  I feel like my whole life people have been giving me unsolicited advice, like "Don't eat carbs" "Don't drink too much" "Spend less than you make" "Don't get married until you're 30" "Don't swim for an hour after you eat" "Don't go places alone at night" "Don't be too available" Most of the time when people are saying these things to me I am thinking about what's going to happen on the next episode of Mad Men or if I need to stop and buy wine on the way home.  Don't get me wrong I love my family and friends (as I'm sure you do) but sometimes you gotta let people live.  So I decided to bestow upon yo

What's In My Make Up Bag.....Today

Image
Hello Beauty Lovers!!  I have to tell you that I think I might actually have to do a third installment of what's in my make up bag!  I just have sooo many great products to share and I don't want to overwhelm you so tomorrow there will be another edition of what's in my make up bag....get excited! As for today I hope you enjoy my finds :) xoxoxo 1.  Sonicare Toothbrush Ok so I know I am probably the last human on earth to purchase a Sonicare but that's ok.  Big ticket items sometimes scare me so I put them off (the hubs will disagree with this statement).  I was at my dentist the other day (if you don't have a dentist and need one my fabulous BFF Dr. Leslie McGuinn will take great care of you, message me if you are interested) and decided to take the plunge. I love, love the sonicare for a number of reasons but first and foremost it helps me not brush my teeth so hard.  Yes I am that person that is literally brushing my gums away!  Secondly it polishes

What's In My Make Up Bag

Image
How are the beauty lovers today?!  I have to admit that make up bag runneth over.  I actually have two make up bags (not a shocker) one for tools, brushes and the other for all the actual goods and they are both getting a little hard to zip!  That's because I have found some AMAZING products lately and I cannot wait to share them with you.  Today and tomorrow I will be showcasing the items that are making me incredibly happy right now and help me keep it right and tight (my new fav phrase). Enjoy!  xoxoxo 1.  REN Micro Polish Cleanser Please don't think I have abandoned my fav Kate Somerville exfoliator because I haven't but I am always on the look out for great exfoliators for me (and you).  I found REN's line when I was at Sephora (aka Mecca).  This is an incredible skin care line that is all about being clean and using bio extracts.  Whenever I am trying a line for the first time I always buy their exfoliator.  Some people buy cleansers, moisturizes I col

How are my peeps today?  I can't believe it is only Wednesday it should be Thursday at least, right?!  Anyway in an effort to speed up my less than exciting week I decided to put together a little what's what of fun, exciting things (to me anyway) that are happening.  Enjoy!  xoxo 1.  Trina Turk at Banana Republic This might be the most exciting news of the week...Trina at Banana!  My BFF forwarded me the email that Trina is coming to Banana Republic and I was beyond thrilled.  For all you Atlanta gals you can head to the Lenox Store on Thursday at 5 p.m. to help celebrate the launch, I will be there with bells on.  If you aren't in the ATL no worries the 60-piece Banana Republic Trina Turk collection, launches in 450 stores worldwide Thursday.  You will not be disappointed as the collection includes patio dresses, tunic tops and bikinis in her signature "Pisces" and crazy botanical prints. Pieces are priced from $34.50 to $150 — roughly half as much as

The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth

I don't really want to write this post.  I want to crawl in my bed, with the covers over my head and watch the real housewives of nyc seasons 1 and 2 (before Jill and Bethenny hate each other).  I don't want to talk to anyone, see anyone or answer my phone.  In fact it's been on silent for the past three days.   I am writing this post because I started this blog as a living, breathing diary.  It is a fluid documentation of my life and what is going on right now.  Unfortunately what is going on right now isn't a fun trip, a great product recommendation or a great style entry... it is real life.   This week something sad happened to me and the hubs, we had a miscarriage.  I will tell you that I hate the word miscarriage it seems clinical to me.  What I have said is we lost the baby because that is how it feels to me.   Without boring you or scaring you with too many details I knew something wasn't exactly right.  I started bleeding and was away from home and my

Stella and Dot....My Favorite Finds

Image
I gotta tell ya that I love the stella and dot.  One reason I started to sell it was because I ordered so much of it.  I know it can be an overwhelming line bc they have so much but I decided to sort through everything and show you my favorite finds aka the jewelry I wear everyday.   I hope you enjoy and get some bling inspiration.   xoxo 1.  Camilla Ring I love, love this fabulous ring.  It is an amazing shade of green and I literally wear it everyday.   It is almost a jade color and people constantly ask me if it is real...um no it is s and d :) 2.  Interlocking Cross Necklace   I wanted and wanted this necklace for months!  When I finally ordered it I never took it off.  It is sterling silver and an amazing find.  It is delicate and sweet and a great alternative to the everyday cross necklace. 3.   Glint Flower CZ Necklace and Earrings I love a great diamond pendant and earrings.  Whenever I wear this set everyone assumes it is real and assumes that I am we
