What's On My Nightstand

My nightstand runneth over right now (so to speak)!  I have so many great books I'm reading that I cannot wait to tell you about. 

I love the winter months when I can curl up in bed with a great book and read for hours!  Below are some of my favorite reads to date. 

I hope you enjoy!

1.  Summer at Tiffany

You will love this book!  It is a true story about two girls who leave the University of Iowa to live in New York in the summer of 1945.  I love hearing about their adventures, the boys they meet but especially about their job at Tiffany! 




2.  The Violets of March

Is one of those books that reminded me why I love to read.  It is a great story about a woman who had it all, lost it all and finds her way back.  I love how this writer tells a story and you will too!




3.  Cold Tangerines

I'm not sure I can say enough great things about this book!  It is an amazing collection of short stories about the writers life, struggles, challenges, joys and finding the good in life.  I love how she tells a story!  I felt like at times the book was written just for me. 





The author recently wrote another great book called Bittersweet!  I absolutely loved it as well.




5.  Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang

There are very few people, movies, books or things that can make me laugh out loud but Chelsea Handler gets me every time.  I have read all her books but this is by far my favorite!  If you need a good irreverent laugh then this is your book.

At Home Facial Favs

Happy Monday!  I hope you and yours had a great weekend.   On Sunday I gave myself an at home facial and documented some of it on my instastories and got 100 questions, ha!  So I figured I would share what I used here.   The first question I got was the frequency in which I do at home facials and I don't do them as much as I want to or probably should.  I aim for once a week but it's probably every other week.  I love going to a spa and getting a kick ass facial but there isn't always time and sometimes they can be pricey so I've developed an at home routine for myself. I will say as I get older my skin is changing so I'm having to investigate new and different products.  My skin is sensitive, prone to breakouts and can be super dry and super oily so it's a constant juggle for me to find products that actually work for me.  Recently I've been using a ton of philosophy products and I have loved every, single one of them so far!  I also love that you get

A Sad Season

I have to tell you that these past few months and perhaps this year have been hard and yes sad.  My mother told me when we were talking about it that I was experiencing "a sad season" and I have to agree. Now this doesn't mean that everything has been awful, sad and terrible.  I haven't been in bed for weeks at a time with the covers over my head watching trash tv.  Instead I feel like it has been one of those times were the hits just keep on coming.  The bad news just keeps rolling in like ocean waves.  It has been a time of tremendous loss and sadness.  The events that have occurred aren't the same but it felt like every time I would get my ahead above water something else would happen.   It has been difficult because there are happy times mixed in to all of the sad.  In those times of happiness I have genuinely tried to be in the moment but my heart wasn't in the right place.  My heart has not felt happy and there has been an undercurrent of sadness tha
